I'm Back!

So I got back home ok. The flight was long and boring but the food was suprisingly good and the films were bearable. I didn't get an aisle seat though so was worried about having to go toilet; I'd wait ages before asking the guy next to me get up but then as soon as I'd gone I'd need it again- basically I spent 10+ hours thinking about nothing but peeing!!

Home's great. I've done lots of shopping already, have been enjoying home cooked food and even went carol singing to raise money for my Mum's school yesterday. It's really nice to be home and am enjoying spending time with my family, although my brother has turned into a social butterfly and never seems to be in! I'm really looking forward to all my friends arriving back; Lindsay and Vicky are back this weekend and I can't wait to see them.

We don't all live in London

I often find that being English people also assume that I must also be from London, even people who know I live ten minutes from Scotland still seem to think that London is just around the corner. I know we're a very tiny country in comparison to others (well everywhere really) but still! I was asked yesterday if whilst I'm back at home could I 'call into' Smythson Stationers to buy some letter headed paper for someone, they gave me the address. Bond Street, London. I reminded said person that London is really far from where I live, to which they replied 'oh don't worry just if you have some spare time, should I give you some money?' I tried explaining that I really didn't think I'd be going anywhere near London in the next few weeks but they just didn't seem to get it. I should have responded by asking them if maybe they could go to Shinjuku, Tokyo whilst I'm away and pick up this book I want; you know just if they have a spare few moments... but let's face it - it would have been lost of them.

A Great Weekend

I'd decided that this was going to be my last year in Japan and that it was definitely time to be going home. When I have great weekends like I did this weekend though it makes that decision more difficult, then I had to say good-bye to everyone for the winter break and I was surprised how upset I felt when I'm going to see everyone at the start if January anyway.

On Friday I went to see the Pixies in Nagoya with a group of friends it was really good and my first experience going to see a band in Japan so also very interesting. The concert started at exactly 7pm we were a few minutes late so as a result missed the first four songs. The band sounded great, we had fun, Kim was given a tree by some guy in the crowd and then it all finished at 8:30pm. Very bizarre.

On Saturday I had some people around to my apartment for a pot luck dinner (I felt the Matsusaka crew had to do something to rival the nights out being held in Tsu and Ise). I had such a lovely time, despite being 'flustered' about the noise (didn't want a repeat of the complaints I received after my birthday party). I have to say the boys did us proud, had gone to lots of effort and brought some lovely food. We headed off for karaoke in Ise afterwards, where we sang/shouted badly and jumped around for a few hours!

Sunday was spent eating Mos Burger, watching a documentary about Walmart, purikura (picture club) and eating Indian curry.

All good, so now just have to find out how I include pictures as that's kind of the whole point of this ...
I don't think I've done this right but will figure it all out later. Here are some picture from Saturday night.

Why blog?

So I guess this is my first post. Every day at school I check my email, the Mie Jets site, read the news on the BBC, Coronation Street updates (yes I'm very sad) and read a variety of different people's blogs. It's always nice to find that someone has updated their blog with their recent news. I like it, I like reading blogs so thought it was about time I started one and I guess as I'm living in Japan at the moment it's a good time to start as there's hopefully lots for me to write about. The only problem is I've already been here 18 months. I guess to re-cap; I've been on loads of cool trips, eaten lots of weird (but sometimes wonderful) food, been to karaoke far too many times and enjoyed it far too much, made so many great friends whilst at the same time missing the great ones I left behind at home (this is starting to make me cringe so I'm going to stop there). I have no idea who is going to read this but if you do I'm sorry because I know I'm not very good at writing and I know I waffle way too much.
