Nikko

On Sunday evening I left the others and ventured to Nikko. I spent Monday morning checking out the sights of Nikko. Apart from a couple of places in Kyoto, Nikko was the last place on my 'Japan list' that I really wanted to see. I had a nice day and I'm pleased I went but I really think I'm templed out at this stage and I'm definitely done with the Japanese tourist crowds! The temples are characteristically not very Japanese and are often compared more to structures found in China or Korea. The problem being I've been to China and Korea and to be honest they do it better!

In the morning I wandered along the river to check out these guys. In my opinion they're definitely the highlight of Nikko.
